A practical workshop addressing pregnancy related Considerations & conditions for manual therapists

Elevate your pregnancy care skills

Because pregnancy care deserves more than generic advice, blanket exercise modifications and a list of techniques to memorise.

Learn to confidently assess, understand and treat pregnancy-related pain with a deeper understanding of the pregnant body, evidence-informed clinical reasoning and practical treatment strategies you can apply immediately in practice.

Designed for myotherapists, remedial massage therapists, osteopaths, and any other hands-on practitioner treating pregnant women. This course goes beyond the basics and explores the musculoskeletal and pelvic health changes of pregnancy. Develop a more nuanced understanding of common pregnancy-related pain presentations, and learn how to tailor your assessment, hands-on treatment and movement recommendations to the individual in front of you.

From pubic symphysis pain and sacroiliac joint pain, to gluteal pain, pelvic floor dysfunction and the many other presentations you encounter in clinical practice, Pregnancy in Practice will help you connect the dots between anatomy, biomechanics, pain science and practical treatment.

Whether you're a recent graduate building your clinical foundations or an experienced practitioner ready to expand your knowledge, refine your clinical reasoning and ELEVATE the care you provide, Pregnancy in Practice will challenge the way you think about pregnancy-related pain and give you practical tools to take back to your treatment room.

Do you know how common a DVT actually is in the pregnant population, and what other risk factors to consider?

What about exercise prescription, and how it sits with current evidence in exercise during pregnancy?

Do you feel limited in the techniques you have to work with for pregnant clients?

Do you know how to help manage pelvic floor pain externally?

WAre

Do you REALLY know if manual therapy can induce labour?

This isn’t a regular course, this is a cool course

I hear you saying, ‘I have done extra training in pregnancy massage, I don’t need this’

You have not done this course.

Pregnancy in Practice dives deep where you where you need it, and skips the stuff you don’t actually need. So no, we won’t be covering the embryology of baby. And I PROMISE there will be no specific sequences, just transferable skills, techniques and the education to apply it to many different situations.

This workshop has been in the making for FOUR YEARS. Conceived through my frustration at the complete lack of pregnancy related hands on courses available for manual therapists in Australia.

Pregnancy in Practice was then fleshed out and grew through my own practice and experiences and those of my mentees. I was answering A LOT of similar questions. Sharing A LOT of similar techniques.

I realised that what I know isn’t being taught. Or at least, not very well.

I was in a unique position. As a doula, I have a deeper understanding not only of pregnancy, but the experiences of pregnant women. Add to that 14 yrs of bodywork experience, and being low key obsessed with everything pregnancy and birth related since I was a child.

I needed to share my knowledge and skills with the world! (Okay, a small group of Melbourne practitioners first. The world maybe later?)

Cue the hype women in my corner, and some deeeeeeeeep work with my imposter syndrome, and Pregnancy in Practice was FINALLY born!

Pregnancy in Practice compiles soft tissue techniques, mobilisations, exercise rehab and home care advice I share with my own clients. Every. Single. Day.

We also dive deep into the ‘absolute’ rules, to apply clinical reasoning when working with the woman in front of us. Not just some generalised risk. ACTUAL person centred care. This helps prevent under servicing pregnant clients who just want A DAMN FOOT RUB!

So come and spend the day with me, a room of like minded practitioners, and probably a charcuterie board.

I can’t wait to see you there!

Meet haydie

  • Clinical Myotherapist (BHSc MST)

  • Doula

  • Pilates Instructor

  • Mentor

I have always loved the human body, and always knew I wanted to become a myo! I also have always loved pregnancy and birth, it was something so normalised in my home growing up, my mum was a midwife, so I inherited the passion from her.

I have spent the better part of my career honing my skills and passion in women’s health. From Pilates, Scar Release, Internal Pelvic Release, to simply consuming podcasts, books, and researching everything I came across. I even opened my practice simply to serve women.

Over recent years, I have had the incredible opportunity to mentor the myo and remedial team at Rapid Recovery Sports Injury and Massage. I have always known I wanted to teach, but working in an RTO (and have to do the dreaded cert IV in TAE ) never felt like it aligned. Mentoring has definitely scratched that itch, and more!

After chatting to the team and having them ask if I had anywhere to point them to further their own knowledge in pregnancy care, I decided it was time to expand and share my passion and knowledge with a larger community!
